๐ŸŒ A New Chapter Begins

Dear readers and friends, Courageous Wanderer has embarked on a new adventureโ€”digital nomadism. While Iโ€™ve never been a fan of labels, this term perfectly captures the essence of my new lifestyle.

To clarify, Iโ€™ve worked remotely for over three years continuously. Before that, I had multiple stints of remote work spanning my career. Given this background, itโ€™s no surprise that an office environment felt completely unnatural to meโ€”a setting that drained time, energy, and creativity.

๐Ÿ›ซ The Official Beginnings

This year, I embarked on my first workationโ€”and once I started, I couldnโ€™t stop. Within two months, I packed in three separate workations, even the short ones lasting just three days.

But do you know what the most surreal moment was? Buying a one-way ticket for the first time in my life. The freedom was indescribable.

โžก๏ธ Where was I going? To stay with friends by the sea.
โžก๏ธ How long would I stay? No idea. Three days? Three weeks? Maybe longer? Who knows!

โš ๏ธ A Word of Caution

Digital nomadism isnโ€™t for everyone. If youโ€™ve just landed your first remote job, or youโ€™re transitioning from corporate life, itโ€™s not advisable to jump straight into workations.

๐Ÿ›‘ Take at least 3-6 months to discipline yourself before trying a workation. If youโ€™re used to someone telling you when to work, when to take breaks, or when to eat lunch, youโ€™ll need to build self-discipline first.

๐Ÿ“ The Origins

My journey into digital nomadism started unexpectedlyโ€”during the pandemic. Just as I had begun my first official remote job, I suffered a complete Achillesโ€™ tendon rupture, leaving me bedridden for six months.

Once I finally regained mobility, I delayed my first workation for two monthsโ€”not because I couldnโ€™t travel, but because for the first time, I wasnโ€™t limited. That kind of freedom takes time to adjust to.

๐Ÿค The Digital Nomad Community

One of the most exciting aspects of this lifestyle is the digital nomad (DN) community. These communities are filled with:
โœ… Remote employees
โœ… Consultants & freelancers
โœ… Business owners
โœ… Travelers embracing flexibility

In DN communities, nobody cares where you were born or what passport you hold. What matters is an open mind, curiosity, and a love for new cultures.

โœˆ๏ธ 2024: A Year of Transitions

As of mid-September 2024, Iโ€™ve only visited three new countries. My total is now 38 countries, which is a solid numberโ€”but this year has been more about adapting to my new lifestyle than just traveling.

Expect more updates on my adventures and in-depth insights into digital nomadism.
